Co-founding DermaSense research team
Every great project starts with a simple idea. For us, it was the question, "Can we provide quantitative results for the skin?" This seed of an idea was planted during a conversation between a professor and a dermatologist, and it quickly took root in our minds.
We set out to create a tangible concept that could meet the needs of doctors and translate abstract definitions into practical solutions. As the project evolved, we faced many challenges, including a lack of funding and data. But we persevered, developing a functional prototype capable of recording data and utilizing statistical models to transform that data into valuable insights.
Our team was a diverse group of passionate individuals who worked tirelessly to bring the project to life. We participated in business contests, expanding our knowledge and scientific horizons along the way. And while the focus shifted from a plain product creation project to full-time research and development work, we remained committed to advancing the state of the art in skin research.
In the end, our efforts paid off. We partnered with the medical department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the dermatological clinic of Papageorgiou Hospital to create a voluntary research project and a tool for studying a range of medical and engineering disciplines. It was a remarkable journey, and one that we're proud to have been a part of.
